Digital Commons Dashboard
May-June 2026
Completed the transition from classic dashboards to modern dashboards. The updated experience improves usability and accessibility, introducing new layouts for enhanced content title visibility and navigation. Additional updates brought improvements to reporting accuracy and platform reliability. Guides: Digital Commons Dashboard and Author Dashboard: Real-Time Usage Statistics for Authors.
New Institution Type filter within the Institution tab. Provides more targeted filtering when exploring institutional engagement data.
Expanded dashboard access for structure-level administrators. Structure admins now have greater visibility into relevant reporting data for their collections.
Several reporting and data-display improvements. Refinements to metrics alignment across reporting views, as well as updates to readership maps, download reporting, custom date ranges, and scheduled report delivery.
Security enhancements across the Dashboard. Ongoing improvements to strengthen platform integrity and support a reliable analytics experience.
Digital Commons Institutional Repository
May-June 2026
Infrastructure upgrades to jQuery, Wagtail, and Nginx, with no disruption to the administrator or end-user experience. These updates support long-term platform stability, reduce security risk, maintain supported software dependencies, and improve compatibility with institutional and government network requirements.
Elsevier SSO integration now available to all Digital Commons customers. SAML/Shibboleth authentication is fully rolled out, with new institutions actively being onboarded to the service.

- Email address changes now require verification of the new address before they are applied.
- The account holder's original email address will receive a notification when a change is initiated.
- Prior email addresses continue to be recognized for login — this supports researchers who update their contact information when changing institutions.
Other security updates. Rolled out additional improvements alongside infrastructure upgrades to align with current security best practices.

The Modern Journal Design homepage now includes a full suite of post-launch enhancements — introductory text in Current Issue, Readership Map, Featured Content, Most Popular Articles, and Current Articles — all manageable from the Admin page. Editors should note that the Edit Toggle will be retired in July 2026; all homepage customization will move to the Admin page at that time. Admin page for Modern Journal Design is now feature-complete, providing a centralized control center for editors. The Admin page includes Navigation and Page Listing (for managing homepage sections and custom pages). The Admin page will replace the Edit Toggle for all homepage editing ahead of its retirement in July 2026.
